ArtWorks!

The average age of a homeless child in Michigan is 9 years old, and over 50% of homeless persons in families are children.*

To help address the needs of homeless children, Shelter of Flint hosts ArtWorks!, a weekly collaborative art program for children at the emergency shelter and five other Shelter of Flint housing locations. Coordinated by Shelter of Flint and in partnership with YWCA and REACH, a runaway shelter, this project exposes children to a variety of art mediums and style while providing them with the opportunity to express themselves through art in a positive and open environment.
