The Mother's Day Appeal is a direct mail campaign created to provide an opportunity to donate money to the Shelter of Flint.  Individuals as well as corporations are asked to make a donation.  The letter asking for contribution ties Mother's Day to the clients at the Shelter, typically single parent mothers and their children.

Mother's Day cards, handcrafted by the children living in the Shelter, are sent to the donor or to someone they designate or wish to honor.  Monies raised go toward the general operations of the 24-hour Shelter Care, Transitional Housing, Outreach Services and Children's Programs.

The artwork for the cards comes from the children who are in the art program run by the Shelter of Flint staff.  The young artists enjoy this activity.  They take their work seriously because they know the importance of recognizing those people who support the Shelter's programs.

Individuals select a level at which they would like to donate.  The donor list grows through the addition of prospects provided by staff, board members, volunteers and friends of the Shelter.
