Emergency Shelter Transitional Housing Outreach Services Since 1983, Shelter of Flint has served as a community resource focusing on care and support for the homeless. Today the agency gives hope and opportunity to those faced with domestic violence, eviction, inadequate income, unemployment, mental illness, substance abuse, substandard housing, dangerous neighborhoods, and family problems. Indeed, program and service provision at Shelter of Flint is based on the belief that no person experiencing the trauma of homelessness will "fall between the cracks." Emergency Shelter for Women & Families Assistance at the Shelter of Flint begins with the Emergency Shelter program (ES), serving homeless single women, single parent women, men with children, and two parent households. Capable of providing twenty-eight clients (point in time) with up to thirty days of nutritious meals and safe shelter, the ES program also offers a wide range of supportive services to help them establish permanent stability.
